What is a Community Connector?
Converge, the state’s federally funded provider of reproductive and sexual health care, is seeking engagement contractors, known as Community Connectors, to partner with the agency on developing and maintaining relationships with community members through networking at local events across Mississippi. Our Community Connectors are essential in ensuring that people in Mississippi are informed about the free or low-cost reproductive and sexual health available at Converge. As a Community Connector, you will help foster trust, ensure transparency, and build long-term relationships between organizations and communities.
We are looking for someone passionate about sexual and reproductive health, has the initiative to create new partnerships and opportunities, is extremely detail-oriented, and thrives in a dynamic environment.
What you will be doing:
· Attend up to two local community events per month as a vendor and advertise our services.
· Pass out flyers and QR codes on local campuses, clinics, or events.
· Promote Converge on socials
· Research and identify new opportunities for local community events to attend each month.
· Build relationships with key stakeholders, including community partners, vendors, and attendees from each event.
· Serve as a liaison between Converge and the community.
· Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Converge/GetPersonal products, services, and policies.
· Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of community outreach efforts, making recommendations for improvement as needed.
Skills we are looking for:
· Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey messages effectively to diverse audiences.
· Cultural Competence: Ability to work with diverse populations and understand the nuances of different cultural backgrounds.
· Conflict Resolution: Experience in handling and resolving conflicts diplomatically and with sensitivity to community concerns.
· Project Management: Organizing, planning, and implementing community engagement programs efficiently.
· Adaptability: Flexibility to work with evolving community needs and organizational goals
